KOD's Allstar Quartet
The Kevin O'Day AllStar Quartet was formed in June of 2005 when Kevin got an idea to combine musicians from different projects that he was playing with and form a new group that had the best of all of them. A weekly gig at Ray's on the River in the World Trade Center in New Orleans gave Kevin the opportunity to put the band together and turn it into a working unit. James Andrews was called in to play trumpet and energize the crowd with his unique vocal style. Andrews developed his chops through many years of performing in Jackson Square in the heart of the French Quarter. Walter "Wolfman" Washington, one of the venerable leaders of the New Orleans music scene and Kevin's mentor as a bandleader was called in to sing and play guitar, and a revolving cast of B-3 organists held down the bass and chordal accompaniment. The B-3 spot is now held by Joe Krown, a stellar keyboardist who is well known for his work with Gatemouth Brown. The Kevin O'Day AllStar Quartet plays the best of New Orleans R&B, Jazz, Funk and Soul music.
